5 Fashion Resolutions You Need to Make in 2023

The start of a new year is always a refreshing time and a great time to reflect on the previous year, plan for the new year ahead and almost wipe the slate clean of everything you haven’t achieved yet. While starting a brand new year, I believe there are a few fashion resolutions all of us can make to improve our way of life, help our environment and contribute to a world of less waste and more creativity.

Here are 5 fashion resolutions to make in 2023 to start the year off with a clean slate!

Reuse, reduce and restyle!

One of the biggest trends we’ll be seeing in 2023 fashion-wise is the ability to re-wear the same piece more than once. The past few years have been inundated with fast fashion and influencers constantly showing off and buying brand-new clothes, making all of us feel like we need to keep up with the trends and buy everything new. The flip side is people not getting the full wear out of their clothes. Consumers are tired of the wheel of new new new we see online, so many influencers will be leaning towards how to style one piece multiple times

Creativity through accessories

The best thing you can do to uplevel the same outfit is through the use of new accessories. Accessories inherently last longer in a person's wardrobe than clothing and reduce the amount of fashion waste we produce. By changing up our looks through accessories, you can increase the life of an outfit multiple times over - plus it’s more fun!

Get real about what you really wear

Do you really need all 7 of those black blazers in your closet? (calling myself out on this one) When was the last time you actually wore that white top? By getting real about the pieces you actually continue to wear, you can clean out your closet and leave a fresh space to see everything you actually wear.

Ditch the garbage can!

It’s 2023 - we’re so past being lazy and just throwing out old garments when we’re done with them. Take just an hour from the beginning of this new year to research women’s shelters and donation houses by yourself. Shelters and donation houses are constantly in need of clothing and you have a wardrobe full of clothes that can help those less fortunate and make someone's day.

The only thing you need to make sure of is that your garments are still in wearable condition. If there are signs of wear, holes, rips, etc. they will be better suited at a recycling center. There’s no need to burden shelters and donation houses with that task.

Take an extra 10 minutes to drive down the road to donate - I promise you won’t regret it.

Clean out your Instagram feed

Now is the perfect time to do a reflection on those influencers you follow online. How do they make you feel? Do they stand for something good? Or is it just more of the same people just showing off their looks. Clear out who you follow so you’re not influenced to buy what you see from them online continuously. (but be sure to keep us in your feed @excluded_fashion 😉)
