2023 Coachella Trends We’re Taking into Summer With Us

Wake up babe, it’s festival season and the Coachella looks from artists, influencers, and concert-goers are hitting the feeds!

Okay, but in all seriousness, there is a lot to take away from looking at festival fashion. And though some like to dismiss it, the truth is: fashion, throughout history, has worked hand-in-hand with music to define and inspire countercultural and aesthetic movements. Festival fashion has this way of existing at an intersection between fashion, music, celebrity, and costume. At its best, it’s an opportunity to realize the freest and most vibrant expressions as they happen to manifest each season.

Of all the looks that have been taking over Coachella Valley this week, there have been a handful of trends that are popping up everywhere. Here are a few that I think have the potential to last beyond the hazy magic of the music, and carry us into summer 2023.

All Denim Everything

Denim has been reminding us of its hold on fashion lately, and it happened to be all over Coachella’s desert landscape last weekend. As we head into summer, one thing’s for sure: denim-on-denim ‘fits aren’t going anywhere.

Good American

Moto Jackets / Cargo pant sets

We are seeing all things utilitarian on the stages and in the audience this year. Particularly, the cargo pants that have been coming into trend the past couple of seasons are being paired with matching moto jackets.

Urban Outfitters

Abercrombie & Fitch

2000s Utility Pant

$130

*comes in 4 colors, short, regular and long

Chunky boots

Still kind of on that utilitarian wavelength for this one. The footwear at festivals tends to be practical for survival reasons, but it’s awesome to see how creative people are getting with the idea of utilitarian boots at a desert music festival.

Free People

Body jewelry and low-slung belts

We expected to see some of this at Coachella, but the belts and body jewelry really came through this season. This is my petition to make that shimmery, goddess energy last all season long.

Urban Outfitters

Crochet

Another festival classic meets a timely trend here. There is so much character in these looks, and they have the potential to take you from the beach to brunch and back this season.
